Beautiful Cedar Bonsai Bench

Building Your Project from Finish to Start: This outdoor cedar wood bonsai bench compliments passion with beauty and practicality.

How do you nourish and care for bonsai trees, some of them over 30 years old? Our client wanted a permanent outdoor installation for the tending and display of the miniature trees.

The bonsai bench above is constructed of all clear Western Red cedar wood for its beauty and longevity. In addition, Western Red cedar has natural oils and salts that protect the wood from water and insects. (Click on the photo for a larger view).

The bench design is 16 feet long and 2-1/2 feet deep, with a first level wood slat counter 36 inches high. Wood slats maximize air circulation around the bonsai and allow excess water to drain through to the ground. The bench also features second and third level displays above the counter. These separate levels help accommodate different sizes of bonsai display. The refined look is finished off by a 1×1 clear cedar backdrop for viewing nature beyond the bench.

The bonsai bench is positioned on concrete pier blocks with adjustable brackets. This way, if the bench starts to settle, it can be leveled out.

It took four days to build the graceful and functional bonsai bench, which will provide enjoyment for years to come. If you are thinking about a similar outdoor project, call us for a consultation at 425-868-4114 or email us.
