Project of the Month: Driveway Relocation, Clyde Hill
aesthetically pleasing feature of your home.
Can a functional paved driveway connecting the public roadway to your home be a thing of beauty? That question blossomed into an idea for one of our Clyde Hill clients who wanted to transform their existing driveway, add more parking and create a beautiful entrance to their home.
The existing driveway served its purpose. It ran straight from the street to the garage at a very steep slope. The new driveway follows a different route in a different color and texture. Both compliment the residence and change the experience of arrival and departure.
Custom Fence and Masonry worked with the client to plan and permit the work, provided color and texture samples for the driveway and front entry surfaces, and fully understood the client’s vision.
Removal of the steep existing driveway was job number one. The new driveway entrance was relocated downhill past the entry of the house. This decision allowed for a more level parking area and driving surface. Custom Fence and Masonry installed integral colored concrete (San Juan Stone) with a light broom finish, to add a nonskid surface. Score joints were used for crack control and a 14 inch wide border was scored in to add detail.
Removal of the existing entry also accommodated a new design. Here, integral colored concrete (Desert Canyon) was installed with a textured stamp finish, score joints and diamonds saw cut into the square areas.
Custom Fence and Masonry completed the project ahead of schedule and within the quoted price.
What a difference! The driveway is both functional and beautiful.
